What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise focused on core conditioning. It targets the muscles of the abdominal area, back, hips and glutes. The exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and posture. Pilates builds strength without adding bulk because it lengthens the muscles. It is a safe and effective method of exercising which also compliments the medical management of many injuries. Pilates for Golf

Like most shots in golf, Pilates is based on movement from the center of the body. It strengthens this area, known as the core (the trunk, shoulder girdle and pelvis). Core strength improves hip rotation, range of motion in the shoulders as well as back stability - leading to more powerful and accurate golf swings. A full body exercise that works all muscles, Pilates is easy on the joints. The end result is a flexible, symmetrically balanced body strengthened from the inside out. Sue has completed Golf Fitness Instructor coursework from the Titleist Performance Institute.
